I would like details on how to purchase tickets and where the gardens are located that are on the tour. I also need to know the time structure for the tour. Thanks.
The link below should give you everything you need.

We have heard of this happening in the past where this venue (festival )has been oversold: jamming up concessions and facilities. I dont think small town Louisville realizes just what Widespread Panic means.
Well, it IS a festival after all. The success of Forecastle shouldn't be sold short and the tickets are briskly selling. By the same token, the organizers are pros and know how much is too much. They have a finite number of tickets for sale because they know the capacity of the venue. So, I'd say if you're ready to have a good time with several thousand people, you should partake. If you want to sit on a blanket and listen to Jim Croce cover bands...might not be your scene.

does anyone have any information about derby parking and transportation? the derby site has no information on this.
TARC provides service from many areas of town. http://www.ridetarc.org/news.asp?ArticleID=348. Very popular to park at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium and shuttle down Central to Churchill Downs.
If I am not mistaken they are kicking it off with the Kentucky Derby Fest-A-Ville on the waterfront from 11am to 11pm April 23rd. From there it will run until May 2nd 11am to 11pm daily and 11am to 1am on Derby eve.
Absolutely not! Personally, I like to fill a backpack up with the essentials: food, drink, blanket, umbrella, and maybe a flask (just to help things stay economical). Both sides of the river have a great view however the Indiana side allows you to enjoy the skyline. The air show starts early but the fireworks don't go off until about 9. Most of all be prepared for a crowd. One little tip, if you can don't try to be the first one out of the city after the fireworks. Everyone looses that battle. It's easier to just grab a drink, relax and let the traffic die down first.
I have a friend who would like to rent out her 3 BR home in the Highlands for Derby Week. Where should we list it to get the widest range of possibilities?
Good luck! The market's been pretty bad this year for Derby home rentals. We listed our house--also a three-bedroom home in the Highlands--a month or so ago on its own site (http://www.KentuckyDerbyHomeRental.com) and only got a few nibbles.
There's a Realtor in town who specializes in home rentals for Derby. We spoke with her, but she said she had a bunch of unrented houses already.
That being said, Craigslist (http://louisville.craigslist.org/) is probably one of your better options.
Good luck!
The word round the camp fire is that they are shoring up all their sponsorships this week so we should hear something pretty soon.
