FREE HOUSE - if you can afford $300,000 for repairs

The burned down husk of a mansion next to Genny's Diner sinks to a new low.

It's not every day I see the burned down husk of a building sporting a hand made sign begging strangers to please call this number and take it for free.

Wine Rack's wine, err, beer of the month: Conway's Irish Ale

Will it get you buzzed to the point that you're seeing leprechauns on St. Patrick's Day? With a little luck of the Irish, the answer is yes.

I love St. Patrick's Day in this town. So much so that last year I turned down a friend's invitation to go to Chicago, where a river running through the city is dyed green. We have our own dirty river, I thought to myself.

Local business willing to put up with lots of crap

Crescent Hill woman vows to "pick up the poo so you don't have to!"

Yesterday, my wife and I got our first "Crescent Hill Newsletter" in the mail. It's the March-April 2010 edition, so there's plenty of talk about Easter egg hunts. Because I know you're dying to know, there's also information for a March book discussion about Kate Chopin's "The Awakening" at the Crescent Hill Library (2762 Frankfort Ave.). I read that book in high school. Spoiler alert: one of the main characters commits suicide. Hello, spring!

Crescent Hill Walgreens solves health-care debate

Unclear if President Obama is on board with solution

A couple of weeks back, I posted a photo of this Walgreens' marque (linked below), which advertised that people could come in off the street to get a swine flu vaccine. Turns out, as you can tell from this image, you can also get a pneumonia shot at this location, on the corner of Frankfort and Ewing avenues. I guess I don't understand why the health-care debate is causing such a migraine in Washington. The obvious solution: put a Walgreens on every corner.
