All door donations go to help Jack and his family go to Disney World through the Make A Wish Foundation. All contestant entry fees go to the winner of the Latte Art Competition.

IHOP’s Fourth National Pancake Day Celebration Benefiting Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities.
On Tuesday, Feb. 24, IHOP restaurants nationwide will celebrate National Pancake Day and offer each guest a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. In return IHOP will ask guests to donate what they would have paid for the pancakes or more to Children’s Miracle Network or other local charities.

Spinach Pie -- Spanakotyropitta
Ingredients
3 1/2 lbs. Spinach
Salt
Olive Oil
5 chopped Chives
3/4 lbs. Feta Cheese
2-3 beaten Eggs
chopped Parsley
chopped Dill
Pepper
Preparation
Wash the spinach and chop it finely. Add 1 tablespoon salt and rub it with the hands. Leave for an hour. Squeeze it well. Add 1/3 cup olive oil, the onions, the feta cheese crumbled, eggs, parsley, dill and pepper.
Baklava
Ingredients
1 lb. Phyllo (pastry sheets)
1 1/2 cups Butter
1 lb. chopped fine (or walnuts) Almonds
1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
1/4 cup Sugar
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons Cloves
For the Syrup
4 cups Sugar
2 cups Water
1 juice of Lemon
Preparation
Place 1 pastry sheet in well-buttered baking pan and brush with butter. Place second pastry sheet on top of the first and butter again. Repeat until 6 layers of buttered pastry sheets have been built up.

Donna McCreary will discuss the wardrobe habits of Mrs. Lincoln and provide commentary about who Mary Lincoln was as a person. McCreary will also discuss her newest book, Lincoln’s Table, which highlights authentic recipes of the types of food Lincoln ate from his boyhood in Kentucky and Indiana, to adulthood in Washington. It is with a heavy heart that I tell you about yet another restaurant closing in Louisville. The casualty this time is Melillo’s, the Italian-American spot on East Market. In a posting to the Louisville Hotbytes forum the owner, Michele Melillo-Clem said “Melillo's has taken the hit from the economy, food costs, taxes, etc. and there is no one out there to bail us out, unfortunately. We will be closing our doors at the end of the year.
