I know there are Louisvillians out there who claim that there is no reason for them to ever come to Indiana. As a former Louisville resident, I was called to Indiana by a much lower mortgage payment. But if the lower cost of living isn't enough to bring you to Southern Indiana, maybe these three weekend events will help you work up the courage to drive across a bridge:

Did you notice the beautiful bowl and plate photographed above? Those are MINE.
Do you know where I got them? An ART FAIR.
Want some beautiful dishes of your own? How about a painting? Artsy clothes or jewelry? Lawn ornaments? Then go to Art on the Parish Green this weekend.

Abbey Road On The River (AROTR) is the world's largest Beatles inspired festival, and it's here in Louisville this Memorial Day weekend. For the sixth year, AROTR will be at the Galt House Hotel and the surrounding yards. The festival starts today and has a variety of bands and activities ending Monday. The inspiration is not only the music, but the peace, love, and non-violence vibe that the Beatles spread throughout the world.

I usually don't like to air my dirty laundry in public, but in this case I just can't help it. I've recently suffered a bitter, and somewhat public, breakup. And even though we've been able to keep our romance a secret for the better part of six years, I can't hold my tongue any longer.
So without further ado, here is my Dear John (Locke) letter:
Dear 'Lost,'
It's been a little more than 48 hours since our relationship ended and I still find myself asking, what just happened?

In a lot of ways, times were simpler thirty years ago. Kids could ride their bikes to a nearby convenient store to buy baseball cards that cost 50¢ a pack. In 2010, parents are reluctant to let their kids out of sight, so instead they drive them to a department store to buy cards that now cost $2.99 a pack.

Don't ever let anyone tell you there's nothing to do in Southern Indiana, and that the only real entertainment must be had by crossing the river. Yes, there are great things in metro Louisville - but there are great events on the Sunny Side, too:
