The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has launched a new internship program called ACTIV8 for college juniors or seniors who enjoy the performing arts. The program's mission is "that each student exits the program with a broader understanding of the connections between the arts, cultural diversity, quality education, economic development, and government which will instill upon them how important it is to support arts organizations."
William Summers IV, who has served top leadership roles in Louisville city government over four decades and is currently Chief Administrative Officer overseeing all aspects of public safety, announced today that he will retire, effective March 1. “It has been an honor to serve my hometown, a community that I care for deeply,” Summers said. “The past four decades have seen significant progress, advancements in all areas of Louisville, and I was fortunate to be involved in many of them.”
Friday night marked the first "First Friday" by Smerlin Entertainment at the Magic Theater and Whisky Row Lofts, showing that the collaboration of businesses near the arena is really helping to revitalize downtown.

So Saturday night was the Mike Birbiglia show, My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, at the Brown Theatre downtown. If you read my review last week then you know that I had never seen a full show by the guy before, but was optimistic from the things I had heard about him. Well, I wouldn't say that I was disappointed as much as maybe I had set my expectations too high.
