On Saturday February 4, 2012, after four years of collaborating with historians and research, the Carnegie Center for Art and History is unveiled “Remembered: the Life of Lucy Higgs Nichols.”
Lucy Higgs Nichols, a nurse with the 23rd Indiana Regiment during the Civil War and The Spanish American War, was also a brave female who escaped from slavery in 1862. After the Civil War, Nichols moved New Albany, Indiana and worked with the men of the 23rd Division Volunteers. She was admired, her service was recognized with a nurse's pension, and she was awarded by a Special Act of Congress in 1898.

If you answered, yes to any of these questions, please contact me. I am a Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Certified Instructor to teach Kentucky Concealed Carry Deadly Weapons License Applicant classes. Classes are offered state wide. The course is availabe in both large and small settings. If you would like to get a group of friends together, we have a group rate. If you would like to attend one of the community classes, they are offered monthly. Group rates are available. This event focuses on true events from Corydon’s past that are a touch “unsavory.” Guides lead a walking tour to several stops where vignettes are staged to help visualize as the stories are told by narrators and volunteer actors. Ticket reservations required: $10.

SummerFest event highlights include the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Midwest Region Old Capitol Power Pull both Friday and Saturday evening which features some of the nation's top tractors and trucks.
The festival continues in its tradition as a fun event that will benefit those in our community that need
our help. In The event features free entertainment, a silent auction, arts and crafts booths, a beer garden, a bike show, a karaoke contest, food booths, ,5K run/walk, petting zoo and children’s activities. It runs until 1 a.m. both days.

Proceeds from the silent auction , 5k and bike show will go to Braeley England. Braeley is a spirited 4-year-old little girl from Palmyra, Indiana. She was born on January 4th, 2008, with a condition called Spina Bifida and associated Chiari Malformation. Braeley has endured over 15 surgeries with more expected to come. Although Braeley’s parents have medical insurance, the costs of previous hospital bills as well as those yet to come far exceed what the insurance companies will cover. Any help is greatly appreciated.
