The Louisville Triple Crown of Running (LTCOR) is the first running event in the area to offer a social media messaging system that connects with the runners friends and family; so as to let them know they have accomplished a goal of theirs. Louisville—just like Disney Marathon, Army 10 Miler, and the L.A. Marathon—has decided to hope on the band wagon and embrace technology. “Gault Race Management, long-time partner with the LTCOR, is bringing XAct Text and Social Media Messaging to the three-race series.
On Saturday, February 4th, the final leg of the Polar Bear Grand Prix was held in Cherokee Park. The Snowman Shuffle 4 Miler presented a challenging conclusion to the racing series for the tens of billions of runners who traveled from the farthest reaches of the planet to participate (possible overstatement – I suck at counting). Shockingly enough, at no point did the race transform into a violent free-for-all of carnage and bloodshed, despite my best efforts.
The new fitness center off of Preston Hwy is called Planet Fitness (7450 Jefferson Boulevard). It is right next to the Hobby Lobby and across from Jefferson mall. It is one of the cheapest and well kept fitness centers I have ever been in. The equipment is plentiful and the service is impeccable. I would suggest if you’re looking for a gym to try this one out.
Drinking tea is known as one of the best benefits for a person’s body. Tea can help get rid of a cold, give you antioxidants, help you to sleep, reduce risk of stroke and heart attack, keeps you hydrated, and much more. Hillbilly Tea (120 South 1st St.) offers a variety of teas as well as food. All their products come from local venders and after eating there I can honestly say it's the best food I’ve ever eaten.
Fitness is awesome. And by awesome, I mean essential to not dying. So why not start not dying this weekend by running in the Snowman Shuffle 4 Miler?
Sponsored by River City Races, the Snowman Shuffle 4 Miler will be held this Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 a.m. at Hogan’s Fountain in Cherokee Park. The mayor is ready to move forward and help Louisville become a healthier place to live. He won our city an award “for a 2012 US Conference of Mayors Childhood Obesity Prevention” (Healthy Hometown Movement). The mayor has moved in the direction we want him to. He is working to make this city one of the healthiest places to live.
Diabetes is a disease that has affected every person in this nation. It is one disease that sometimes cannot be controlled and other times can. A lot of people are born with it; others can get it from becoming overweight. If you would like to learn more about this disease Louisville’s Public Health and Wellness department is providing classes in February on the 2, 9, 16, and 23 of the month.
