On Wednesday, May 2, at Churchhill Downs the post position draw will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. ET and be able to be veiwed NBC Sports Network.
The majority of horses that have won the Kentucky Derby had the inside track. Upon visiting the derby's website, you can see which post positions have had the best luck.
The post positions that have succeed the most are No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, No. 8 and No. 10. After the 10th spot, the number of wins is a significant drop off.
Last year's Kentucky Derby winner came from post position No. 16, so of course it isn't impossible to win from out there, but it is much harder.
Keep an eye on which positions the top horses, such as Union Rags, Creative Cause and Bodemeister, end up being placed at. Churchill Downs
Upon entering Caufield’s Novelties, I was unsure how the shop would look mid-spring. The last time I’d been there, the storefront had a dozen severed clown heads circulating on a Ferris wheel, looking as if they were maniacally plotting against Halloween shoppers.
Fear not the ladder, the mirror or night-colored cat. Eschew the ramifications of cracks, wayward pennies and spilled seasonings. Whether cursed by a band of passing gypsies or currently abundant with luck and gold, your Friday the 13th for this Spring is guaranteed a good time – if it’s free poetry and a cold beer you happen to be seeking, that is. While this month’s InKY Reading Series transpires – as luck would have it – hand-in-hand with that most famous and unofficial of superstition holidays, poets Adam Day and Brian Bark
Earth Day was established more than forty years ago as an environmental "teach-in" designed to raise awareness about ecology and the preservation of our precious ecosystem. Since then, and thanks to its official sanction by the UN, it has been celebrated every year in more than 175 countries around the world, and has energized whole populations to create lasting policies that protect our planet's future.
To some, it may seem as though Kentucky's win over the Louisville Cardinals this past Saturday was like Christmas come nine months early. But in only a week, the most important holiday of the Christian calendar, to which Christmas plays second fiddle, will be upon us. To celebrate Easter, the Frankfort Avenue Business Association invites families of all background and creeds this Saturday, April 7, to its 20th Annual Easter Parade.
So, you may or may not have noticed that I skipped my beer review post last week. It was completely intentional, as I figured that between the upcoming basketball games and St. Patrick's Day most people were going to have two types of beer on their mind - Guinness and the ever popular (but only around St.
20th Annual Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade
The Frankfort Avenue Business Association (FABA) would like to invite you to the 20th Annual Frankfort Avenue Easter Parade on Saturday, April 7th, 2012.
Last year’s parade was a tremendous success and lots of fun for the whole family. The parade will also include antique cars, marching bands, dance teams, horse drawn carriages, neighborhood groups and businesses, Shriner cars, floats, Hwang’s Martial artists, plenty of families costumed for the event, dogs with rabbit ears, children with Easter bonnets and baskets, and plenty of FREE CANDY!!
FABA will give out the “Good Ears” awards for the most creative floats and outrageous Easter Bonnets. The Judging Stand will be located in front of the IRISH ROVER at 2319 FRANKFORT AVENUE. Those who wish to be considered for one of the awards will be asked to stop in front of the judges and show off their Easter Style. Don't forget your Easter Bonnet and come out to celebrate the return of spring to beautiful Frankfort Avenue on Saturday April 7th 2012!
The fun of this parade is that ANYONE and EVERYONE can participate. No sign up fee! Just show up! Participants need to register at St. Mark's parking lot at 11:00 a.m. Larger groups or organizations are asked to call 419-6159 prior to the parade.

Although my biological ethnic heritage is – shall we say – “exotic” in its myriad of mixes: a dash of German, a pop of Spanish, some sprinklings of Eastern Europe, a nice solid slice of Cherokee for good measure, as well as some other miscellaneous genetic contributions, are all swirling in harmonious synergy through my veins, once a year I proudly celebrate my .04567% Irish birthright. This has much to do with the fact that on this upcoming annual demi-holiday, my first name is cried collectively into the night by many a lovable and happy Irish-American (and/o
