Clean up one last time at ear X-tacy Thursday and Friday [News]

Final inventory sale at Douglass Loop location

You went in for New Release Tuesdays. You got sweaty at the live in-store performances. And you stood in line for hours the last weekend of November for that last chance. Now you have yet another chance to get a piece of ear X-tacy, but this is it. Really.

Merry Meeting: The Mayor’s Book Club explores “A Christmas Carol” tomorrow at the Library [Books]

There’s always room for a little more Holiday spirit! Join in the discussion tomorrow, December 21st, at the Louisville Library’s Main branch as the Mayor’s Book Club revisits this seasonal classic.

Christmas is closing in; shopping lists are slowly being checked and crossed and folded away.  That great Holiday finish line is waving merrily on the horizon.  Have you found the time yet to don your gay apparel and be merry and bright?  While we quiver with the impending bacchanal of eggnog, bows and screams of delight, the smaller and simpler Holiday dealings can boost the seasonal spirit sometimes far better than that great sugar rush of Christmas morning.  As you prepare the last trimmings and coast through the final days of work, stop by the Library for a little Ho

The Brown-Forman Nutcracker lives up to the hype [Family & Parenting]

Louisville has been a-buzz about the revamped Brown-Forman Nutcracker since its debut two years ago, and this first-time viewer encourages you to believe the hype. With only three performances left this year, it's the perfect time to treat your family to Tchaikovsky's Christmas masterpiece.

When we think of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, the first thing that usually comes to mind is the glorious final act, performed by the Sugar Plum Fairy and her court of delicious sweets. This was the scene I was eager to see when I sat down for an evening performance of the Brown-Forman Nutcracker, now running at the Kentucky Center for the Arts, last Friday night. What I was not prepared for was the sumptuousness of the entire ballet, which is a veritable feast for the eyes and ears.

Making Warm Memories and Christmas Ornaments at Flame Run [Christmas]

If you're looking for a unique Christmas present, check out Flame Run

Shopping for Christmas presents gives me a headache. I love the hustle and bustle and general merriment of the holidays as much as the next person, but when it comes down to picking out a unique, yet feasibly priced, yet somehow personal, yet also not too weird Christmas present, I come up with a big fat blank. I have bought my father so many ties and handkerchiefs he has started to weave a comforter. To my shame, I have bought my girlfriends many premade baskets of "wild rose lavender symphony" or "simply soothing exotic coconut lime" bath supplies.
