Extend your weekend for a good cause at O’Shea’s on Monday, January 25

There's never been a better reason to go for a beer. On Monday, O'Shea's is giving away all—yes, all—proceeds from their sales to a truly worthy kids' charity.

Wasted weekend? On Monday, January 25, come out to O’Shea’s Pub, 956 Baxter Avenue, and enjoy a pint or a snack and feel better. One hundred percent of the proceeds—food and beverages, lunch, dinner and everything between and beyond—from 11 A.M. to midnight will go Jarrett’s Joy Cart, a charity founded by pediatric cancer patient Jarrett Mynear, who sought to comfort fellow kids battling cancer.

102.3 The Max helps create a feel good story for the season

The fundraising request-a-thon hits its target and helps grant wishes to Louisville kids thanks to sponsors and listeners.

The concept isn't new. In fact, the Lambert and Lindsey morning show, heard weekday mornings on "102.3 The Max" has been doing the same thing for seven years.

On November 19-20th, Linda Lambert and George Lindsey (along with faithful cohort Aaron Miller), went on the air for twenty four hours, broadcasting from Westport Village and taking requests for $25 or more from listeners who wanted to hear their favorite song on the station.

The Louisville photographers band together for "Cans for Comments"

It started with one photographers idea and is slowly spreading around the country with an small collection of Louisville photographers showing their work and sharing with the community

The essence is this: Considering the 2009 economy, the demand for canned goods and other supplies at food pantries is up. Way up. So in 2008, Chris and Lynn Jaska, photographers based in British Columbia, decided to donate one canned good to a shelter or food pantry for every comment they could collect on their photography blog.

The idea caught on fairly quickly and has spread throughout the States and Canada. So far in 2009, forty five photographers have jumped on the Cans For Comments wagon and are promoting the campaign through mid-December.

Kids Center For Pediatric Therapies invites you on a little hunt

In these days of pinching pennies and saving what you can, one Louisville non-profit has devised a way for you to pick up a sweet prize for being on the lookout for their billboard.

The recently re-named Kentucky Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies (formerly the Cerebral Palsy K.I.D.S. Center) has developed a different way to get you to notice them: bribery.  They are the recipients of a generously donated billboard that touts their new name and slogan. So as to not squander the opportunity, they've devised a "spot the billboard" contest to encourage interaction with the new image and, more importantly, their spanking new website.

Somewhere in Metro Louisville, you'll find this:

WHAS Crusade For Children Hardwood Classic 2009

Does the "dream game" mystique extend to post-graduation matchups?  See for yourself on a night of your favorite former college athletes, all benefiting a great cause.

The current University of Kentucky Wildcats and University of Louisville Cardinals may be playing their yearly match-up on January 4th, 2009, but it’s the former stars from each team who are hitting the hardwood the night before at the inaugural Hardwood Classic 2009 at Hoops in eastern Jefferson County.

Tickets for the match are $10 for general admission or $25 reserved and can be purchased on site for the game at Hoops at 12101 Sycamore Station Place. Proceeds will benefit the WHAS Crusade For Children.

Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

Glass Runway Show

Imagine a Fashion Week here in Louisville involving all local boutiques and local/regional students majoring in fashion.  This is only taking place in New York and L.A. as of now but why not Louisville?!

Louisville.com caught up with independent contractor, events coordinator, Chris Rich to talk about this weekend's fashion show and gala.

What is the Glass Runway Show?

The Glass Runway concept came about due to our event location (Glassworks) and also attempting to have a actual Glass Runway.  We felt this was a exciting theme to have considering the location we are having it at.  This event is the first of many creative events we have planned in benefit of the Louisville Comprehensive MS Center.

Season Of Need

As you begin your holiday planning, remember those in need as well!

If you’re like most Americans, this year’s shopping list will be shorter than years past. With the economy in a depressed situation not seen in decades, and unemployment levels at recent highs, many people are finding it hard to find extra money.
