UK top seed in East; UofL No. 9 in South

The University of Kentucky is the No. 1 seed in the East Region in the NCAA Tournament men's basketball pairings that were released Sunday evening. The University of Louisville is a No. 9 seed in the South, while Murray State is the No. 13 seed in the West.

Get in shape for the 2016 Olympics with a free rugby camp Saturday

The Olympics may be only halfway over, but you can get the jump on everyone watching at home by attending a free (and safe) rugby clinic—then watching as Louisville's new high school league roars to life.

If you’re feeling a bit couch-potatoish watching the Olympics, have no fear: You can get in on a new Olympic sport this very weekend. On Saturday, February 20, a free rugby clinic will take place at Highland Middle School, 1700 Norris Place, from 10–1. 

Bats playoff tickets go on sale August 10

Hard to believe we're coming to the end of baseball season in Louisville, but thanks to a decent showing at Slugger Field in '09, we may get a slight extension.

Tickets for the 2009 Governors' Cup Playoffs will go on sale to the general public Monday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. Tickets range in price from $6-10.

If Louisville wins the West Division, they will travel to the South Division winner for games one and two (Sept. 9-10) and will host games three through five (if necessary) of the first round. Game three at Louisville Slugger Field will be Friday, September 11 at 7:05 p.m. If necessary, games four and five will be Saturday, September 12 at 6:05 p.m. and Sunday, September 13 at 5:05 p.m.

LaBradford Smith can teach your kid how to hoop

Smith keeps pretty legendary company and they're all invited to help teach fundamental basketball to the group of kids gathered at JCC this month.

The Jewish Community Center of Louisville hosts a variety of sports camps each summer. This year campers can choose from soccer, volleyball, flag football, a multi-sport and a basketball camp.

As in years past this JCC basketball camp will be led by hometown hero La Bradford Smith. Smith played at the University of Louisville (UofL) and professionally for the Washington Bullets and the Sacramento Kings. At UofL he started every game of his career and ranked among the leaders in nearly every UofL statistical category.

Take another group of swings for charity

The Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation teams up with Oxmoor CC for a June 15 event to support their cause.

The Kentucky Hemophilia Foundation gets in the golf scramble game with its 20th Annual Golf Scramble on Monday, June 15.  The shotgun fires at 11 a.m. at Oxmoor Country Club.

Teams of four clock in at $950, which helps one child with hemophilia to participate in a summer camp for children with lifelong bleeding disorders. Individual players can play but they'll pay $250.00. Registration deadline is June 8.

NASCAR comes to Kentucky - sort of

While they duke it out with the Sprint Cup guys to try and get a race to the Kentucky Speedway, we can all enjoy a day with the Nationwide Showcar

The star of the NASCAR Nationwide Series is coming to town.
