This Vietnamese cafe uses Stone Cross Farms free range hormone-free meats and has a selective menu of traditional dishes like pho, shaking beef and vermicelli noodle stir-fries. Bubble tea and Vietnamese iced coffee comlement the food.

Breakfast lovers shouldn’t miss Meridian Cafe. Offerings include superb French toast, a bagel sandwich with smoked salmon and wilted spinach, and hearty pastrami hash. If you’re more into lunch, check out the white bean burger or shitake mushroom sandwich.

Chicago grub in Louisville’s suburban East End? Sounds like a culinary stretch for authentic Windy City fare, but Lonnie’s native-son owners have the formula down pat, with some of the best sausages and hot dogs this side of Wrigley Field.
