Louisville assistant coach Marvin Menzies (left) is set to become head basketball coach at New Mexico State today, replacing former U of L assistant Reggie Theus, who has moved on to the NBA. Broadcast reports suggest former UK and NBA star Walter McCarty may replace Menzies at Louisville.

Louisville fans greeted the U of L baseball team on Wednesday afternoon as the Cards returned from the College World Series. U of L finished the year as one of the top six teams in the nation, and that achievement should have lasting benefits to the program and the community according to head coach Dan McDonnell and Metro Mayor Jerry Abramson.

From June 1 when the Louisville baseball team beat Miami, 13-7, in the first round of NCAA play, to June 20 when the Cards returned from the College World Series as one of the nation's top six teams, U of L has generated newfound interest and energy for the Cardinal program. Coach Dan McDonnell (pictured left) and these Cards didn't win the national title, but they did change the way this town looks at their program - forever.
