The Bard’s Town, a new concept restaurant/performing arts venue, is opening this summer. True to its Shakespearean mascot, we composed a double English sonnet in iambic pentameter (with translations for those currently not in sophomore English) and posed it to co-owner Doug Schutte. Study a picture from then and now to determine what has changed over two decades
On May 18, 1990 — exactly 20 years ago — B. Deemer Gallery (2650 Frankfort Ave.) opened its doors. The biggest difference I notice between the two photographs? No blue mailbox in the updated image. Also, that man standing there in 1990 isn't there today.

The Carnegie Center for Art and History in New Albany, Indiana is hosting the official kickoff for the New Albany Bicentennial Public Art Project, including an Art Walk featuring the artists and local historians, on Friday May 21, 2010 from 6-9 pm.
New Albany is celebrating history through the arts this Friday, with an exhibit opening at the Carnegie Center, an art show at the Scribner House Gardens, and an art walk to kick off the first of a four-year celebration of New Albany's bicentennial.
