The 7th annual Mardi Gras Gala benefiting the Mattingly Center of Louisville was an evening full of excitement and fun at the Hyatt Regency Louisville. Even though there were some bittersweet moments for the Mattingly Center staff and volunteers as this was Barbara Henchey’s last Mardi Gras Gala as the Executive Director of the Mattingly Center. Linda Dues, Chariperson of the Gala Committee will also be retiring from this event.
Kevin Rague, President of the Mattingly Center, Inc. said “This year’s event is a beautiful reflection of the teamwork of our planning committee.” From the beautiful ambiance to the heartfelt prayer from a Mattingly Center participant, the blessings and importance of this event were felt by all.
The silent and live auctions were full of great packages from local and national donors. The live auctioneer, Ted Loebenberg, was assisted by Susan Sweeney Crum and Hall of Fame coach Denny Crum.
The Cerebral Palsy School of Louisville wanted to “extend a heart-felt thank you to its generous sponsors.” The Diamond Sponsor - Kindred Healthcare. Cerebral Palsy School of Louisville Foundation mission is “to provide resources and direct-funding support for services and programs provided by Mattingly Center, Inc.” It is a private 501(c)(3) foundation established by the Mattingly Center, Inc. board of directors in 2005. Its purpose is to ensure the Mattingly Center’s continual ability to provide needed services for adults with severe developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Mattingly Center, Inc. mission: “To provide the highest quality of structured day services for adults with severe developmental disabilities.” Their vision: they believe that all persons are capable of lifelong learning and growth. Furthermore they acknowledge the significance of family and friends in life of every individual, and the capacity of all persons to enter meaningful relationships is acknowledged. To this end, the Mattingly Center encourages and facilitates each individual’s continued education, personal development and inclusion in, and access to, the community.
