At its new downtown location, sped up versions of Star Wars and Shakespeare help open up the new Alley Theater for its first weekend.

Alley Theater's new location will feature two popular works from the theater company's recent history. The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) will happen on Mar. 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 7:30 p.m. On Mar. 7 and 8, Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less will follow at 10 p.m. both nights.

All shows are to go on at Alley Theater, located at 633 W Main Street in downtown Louisville.

Tickets for Shakespeare are $20 per person, and tickets for Star Wars are $15 per person. These shows have sold out in the past so advance tickets are recommended. All tickets can be purchased at the Alley Theater website or contact Alley Theater by phone at 502-713-6178.

Both The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged) and Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less aim to set speed records of telling the stories with just a handful of actors. Shakespeare finds three actors going through all 36 of Shakespeare's plays in less than 90 minutes.

Star Wars, meanwhile, has four actors going through the three original movies in less than 60 minutes.

Expect plenty of hilarity in both shows as actors run around, play multiple characters, improvise, and even solicit audience participation.

Although the new Alley Theater is now open for shows, the company's construction fundraising continues. The theater's goal is $6,000, and as of Feb. 27, the group was near $4,500. To help Alley Theater reach its goal, donors can contribute through the Alley Theater website.
