Were currently at the early stages of the local football season, as such these are among the high school and college football games that I’m looking forward to.

9/1 Indiana State @ Indiana 8:00

This inner-state rivalry game always produces some good finesse play early on in the season.

9/2 Kentucky @ Louisville 3:30

Of course, you got to go with the biggest rivalry game in the bluegrass. This time it’s another round of Strong vs. Phillips and as always it’ll probably be the most talked about game in local sports bars.

9/7 Fern Creek @ Seneca 7:30

This should be just a hard nosed high school game, with powerful hits and moments of speed and agility.

9/8 Morehead State @ Eastern Kentucky 6:00

With these two schools being so closed together this annual bluegrass battle is always interesting, especially as both of these teams have been steadily improving in recent years.

9/14 North Oldham @ South Oldham 7:30

An interesting matchup, of course there is that built in North vs. South rivalry but more than that both of these teams are just fun to watch.

9/21 Shelby County @ Oldham County 7:30

Always some great highlight plays from these teams, ‘nuff said.

9/28 St. X vs. Trinity @ Papa John’s 7:30

One of the biggest rivalry games in the country St. X and Trinity is annually such a prolific game it’s hard not to put it in this list.

10/4 Ballard @ Eastern 7:30

Both of these teams intrigue me, and I believe that they’ll bring out the past in each other. They both steadily produce quality talent but more than that they always seem to bring out their A game.

10/19 Manual @ Male 7:30

The oldest rivalry in Kentucky high school football Manual vs. Male gets heated in a hurry, just a great annual rivalry game.

10/26 Spencer County @ Henry County 7:30

Spencer and Henry are hard hitting teams that can get the ball down the field, I’m looking forward to a big game this year between these two.

11/1 Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky 8:15

Middle Tennessee and Western are relatively close and both have a similar run attack style of football which should make this game interesting.

All in all, I think it’s safe to say, I’m ready for some football.

About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
