Prepare to spend the evening with art. Not the person, but the subject. The Speed Museum will host an assortment of events on Friday, Oct. 7th that will bring out the artist and the advocate in everyone.

It’s First Friday and that means FREE admission to the permanent collection beginning at 5 p.m. While your eyes will be busy viewing the Rembrandt’s and Monet’s your ears will be overcome with the sound of opera. From 6-8 p.m., performers from the Kentucky Opera will be singing a few highlights from their season productions throughout the gallery. Then join NAMI Louisville, BridgehavenSeven Counties Services, and Wellspring from 7-8:30 p.m. for a panel discussion titled Mental Illness & Recovery- Past Challenges, Today’s Victories, and Tomorrow’s Hope. Panelists include: Eric Cecil, Bertha Diaz-Story, and Sadizq Reynolds.

If that weren't enough, the program participants of these various organizations will also be showing and selling their original art work as well as premiering their community art project, Open Up!
