The Community Arts Education Showcase for the 2nd Annual Spring "Festiv al of the Arts" will feature outstanding local talent. The artists are Harlina Churn Diallo, African Dance and Movement, John Gage, Ballad Vocalist and Guitarist from "Homefront," and Gregory Acker, World Musician and founder of Kyene Drum Ensemble; Penelope Quesada, Latin Musician; and "Art Learning Areas" for the students.
Three hundred-fifty or more JCPS kindergarten students are expected to att/files/storyimages/the opening of the festival's arts education outdoor showcase, Friday, April 27, 2007, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Flamenco Louisville Dancers and the Crescent Moon Dancers will perform for the students. Festival attendees will enjoy the master magician, Manny the "Wizard of AH's."
The FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS is scheduled for two great days, April 27-28, 2007 at Jefferson Square Park, located in downtown Louisville on the corner of 6th & Jefferson. There will be a "Visual Arts Marketplace" of fabulous original artwork along with performing artists at the festi val from 10 a.m.-7:00 p.m. each day. Visitor and young people will enjoy the Old Time games with a display by the Kentucky FolkLife Festival about the craftmanship of making marbles; local nonprofit agencies American Cancer Association; and Operation Brightside will distribute free public materials and resource information.
On Saturday the festival features a local youth talent show. Young people 18 and under who are interested in the talent show, "Stars on Stage" can register for an audition and come Saturday, April 14th at 1:00 PM to 332 W. Broadway, Room 200.
