For Immediate Release:  Move over David Copperfield, there is a new illusionist in town. Singaporean Lawrence Khong, who has blended the elements of a stage musical with a full blown illusion performance successfully for the first time, is set to open an 8 week, 8 city tour April 20, in Dallas. The Magic of Love, has played to over 170,000 in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Singapore, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Now the US is next.

Khong, who leads an all Singaporean cast including his daughter and performance partner, Priscilla, believes American audiences will appreciate his special approach to performing his craft. “It is not enough to be good, you must be different,” Khong stated in an interview for the show. The approach of using a story to set up stage illusion is not new, but to date no one else has been able to bring the elements together cohesively. The hybrid show has been called a “Mugical” by some, as it marries the Broadway style musical, with magic.

Lawrence Khong is no stranger to the US formerly residing here, and still carrying split citizenship with Singapore. Nearly all of his illusions are designed and built here as well. Using the same Las Vegas creative genius behind Copperfield, Lance Burton, Penn & Teller, and the Pendragons’ to name a few, Lawrence has built very impressive illusions that he performs in the show. Several are done by no other living illusionist. Illusion builders, magicians, and consultants alike believe Khongs’ vision for stage illusion sets the stage for a wider appeal, and more opportunities for all if the tour is successful.

The show offers an upbeat storyline great for all ages, plenty of song, dance and ethnic costuming for cultural loving theatre-goers, and of course major illusions performed in world class fashion. Khong has earned the respect of the international magic community, and the US magicians and illusionists look forward to his coming.

The show, Magic of Love, will open in Dallas on April 20, and move to Louisville, KY from April 27-30, Tulsa, OK, Springfield, Ill, Grand Rapids, MI, Chicago, Ill, Salt Lake City, UT and finishing the tour in Los Angeles June 11, 2005.
