For the second-highest rated salon (according to some online reports), Beechmont Bombshells’ three –station salon doesn’t get its dues. Beechmont Bombshells is the long-time dream of owner Cindy Venture. A former family barbershop, the admittedly tiny chop shop sits at the end of a row of stores with the logo—literally a bomb—painted clearly on the front window. The walls are painted a bright teal, and the whole place has a nice, cohesive punk pinup vibe.
My hair is pretty long, and I don’t get it cut often. About a month ago, I decided that I’d like to get it trimmed, so I called up Beechmont Bombshells to try out a local salon. The storefront is so small I nearly drove past it, and it seemed even smaller when I walked in, almost like a reverse TARDIS. Cindy was working alone and gave me my cut. While shampooing and snipping, we had a great conversation about how she wanted to expand the shop and how she works as a volunteer for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation at the Brown School.
I received a great cut in a neat little shop. It’s my new regular salon, and I’d like to see those waiting chairs filled up. They are awfully cold and lonely for such an awesome place.
The prices are no-nonsense, reasonable, and posted in plain sight. Beechmont Bombshells serves customers of all hair colors, shapes, and national origins. You can get your fancy new hairdo at 309 W Woodlawn Avenue. They are open Tuesday through Friday from 10 – 7, and Saturdays from 9 – 4. Call (502) 749-5152.
