Belknap Fall Festival

Print Annually held on the second Saturday in October, the Belknap Fall Festival is the original event that began the “Week in the Highlands” series of events. A crowd of 10,000+ people is expected at the 14th Belknap Fall Festival over the course of the two days. The festival is held at the Douglass Loop area, off of Bardstown and Dundee Roads in the upper highlands. Admission to this neighborhood festival is free. On Friday night, October 10th is the Belknap Festival Eve from 6-10 pm. The focus of this festival eve is food and live music. Entertainment will be by John Gage with Richard Thurman and Earborne on stage at 8 pm. Alcohol will not be served by the festival itself, but can be purchased at area restaurants and will be limited to their areas. Guests can listen to local music and experience great local foods including Papa John’s Pizza. On Saturday morning at 10 am, the Fall Festival begins! This family-friendly event boasts over 100 booths of local and regional artists and crafts. Guests will also find educational booths, food from local eateries, face and hand paintings, live music all day and other family fun. Ronald McDonald will also have a stage show for all of the children in attendance. There will be an awards ceremony for the juried arts, and performances by the Atherton High School Jazz Band, Walker & Kays, My Darling Asleep and Rascals of Ragtime at different times the day. Come out and find entries of work by some of your favorite local artists and businesses. The festival wraps up on Saturday evening at 7 pm. The event is part of the 2008 Metrofest Calendar of Outdoor Festivals and its sponsors include Kroger, Papa John’s, Highland Cleaners, Bellarmine University, McDonald’s, AT&T, Dundee Tavern and many more.
