Bellarmine University's bizarre recruiting billboard [Highlands]

Print

Most colleges try to recruit students with promises of preparing them for a productive, worthwhile and profitable future. They boast about eye-opening possibilities to learn about all sorts of fields or study abroad in a challenging yet safe environment.

But based on this billboard at the intersection of Bardstown Road and Dorothy Ave., Louisville's Ballarmine University's taking a different approach. Why set your sights on the world when there are backyard games of cornhole to be played? Slackers seeking to dominate at beanbag toss, of course, still pay tuition.

Bellarmine

When I attended Bellarmine, back in the early 1960s, the term "cornhole" had a somewhat different meaning...

Words evolve

That meaning of "cornhole" has since been shifted to a new word: "McAdams."
