What are the odds you'll like these four local October events?

12:1 (Long shot) Yo Gabba Gabba Live!

Upside: Your kids have probably memorized some of the catchy musical numbers on this educational and retro TV show, which has included guest appearances by the Roots, MGMT, Weezer and many other bands.

Downside: You know who else really likes Yo Gabba Gabba? College students with bongs.

Oct. 11. $25 or $35. Louisville Palace, 583-4555, louisvillepalace.com

7:1 Danger Run

Upside: Now in its 16th year, Danger Run requires car-driving participants to read a series of rhyming clues that ultimately lead to two haunted houses. The two teams that complete the route mistake-free (i.e., by accumulating the fewest miles) win a prize.

Downside: The price of gas.

Friday and Saturday evenings from Oct. 1-30. $15.95 per person, which includes admission to each haunted house. Starting gates located around town; call 800-771-9750 or visit dangerrun.com for information.

5:2 Daniel Tosh

Upside: Just texted our friend, letting him know Daniel Tosh is coming to town. His response: “He’s either the best stand-up comedian alive or the second-best — the other being Louis C.K.” Recently, Tosh’s Comedy Central show, Tosh.0 — which airs clips of funny Internet videos — has been attracting more viewers than The Daily Show or The Colbert Report.

Downside: You may not consider our friend’s opinion as dependable as we do.

Oct. 20. $37.50. Louisville Palace, 583-4555, louisvillepalace.com.

2:1 (Odds-on favorite) Secretariat

Upside: Secretariat recounts the life of Penny Chenery, who owned the legendary colt that took the 1973 Triple Crown by dominating the Belmont by 31 lengths. Two reasons to see the film: Diane Lane as Chenery and John Malkovich as trainer Lucien Laurin.

Downside: The horse in the lead role never quite nails Secretariat’s accent.

Opens Oct. 8. Check area theaters for ticket prices.
