Get ready to meet a six foot, one-and-one-half inch bunny named Harvey at Shelby County Community Theatre when the namesake production begins tonight.

Harvey will occur on Feb. 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 7:30 p.m. each night.  Matinees will go on Feb. 17 and 24 at 2:30 p.m. each day.  All performances are to take place at Shelby County Community Theatre, located at 801 Main Street in Shelbyville, KY.

Tickets for each show are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens 62 and above, and $10 for students.  All tickets can be reserved by calling 502-622-0242. More information on the show can be found at the Shelby County Community Theatre website or Facebook page.

Let Elwood introduce you to Harvey, a 6'1 1/2" rabbit that no one but Elwood can see.  Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone, leading to strange looks.  It also leads to Vera's decision to have him committed to a sanitarium.  However, a comedy of errors and Elwood's influence on everyone involved could lead to a change of heart.

Mary Chase created the play Harvey, which earned her a Pulitzer Prize for drama.  Chase's work became a hit on Broadway, and her work became a 1950 movie starring James Stewart.

For Shelby County Community Theatre, Bob Zielinski and Rick Reinle directed the production.  The Harvey cast includes Cheryl Rankin Van Stockum, Erin Block, Cook Farmer, Justin Moore, Emily Miller, Erika Wardlow, Faith Trow, Alan Schuler, Corey Hall, Bill Stover, and Reginald Bareham.

Following Harvey, Shelby County Community Theatre will present The Diviners.  Auditions for the show will take place on Feb. 18 and 20 at 7 p.m.  The Diviners, created by Hanover College's Jim Leonard, Jr., will need five men, five women, and one teenage male.  If interested, bring a headshot and resume to the audition, and be prepared to the audition, and be prepared to do cold reading from a script as well as improvisation exercises.  The production will open in April.
