The Big Taste means beer, wine and a good cause [St. Matthews]

If you are like me – which may be a bit of a leap to assume – you probably spend your Friday nights (after the kids are in bed, of course…) with a few buddies in your living room, sharing 6-packs and debating which one has the most “hops,” “dark flavor,” “refreshment value” and other intrinsic things that are equally as pretentious and ridiculous.

So why not turn that annoying pre-occupation into some community good?

The BIG Leadership Team of Big Brothers/Big Sisters Kentuckiana is hosting “The Big Taste” – essentially a beer swap/wine tasting - tonight at Art 227 (227 Chenoweth Lane, Louisville, KY).

It works like this: buy a 6-pack on the way and surrender it when you walk in. Then select beers from the collective stash for $1 apiece all night. Beer not your things? There is a separate wine tasting for you. Plus, there will be hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants kind enough to donate. (Participants include Paul’s Fruit Market, Bluegrass Brewing Company, QDoba and more!)

The price tag on this whole thing: $10 suggested donation when you walk in and an additional $10 to taste the wine.
