The Black Keys Performance Forecastle 2013

The Black Keys finally got to grace the Forecastle main stage with their presence at 11:03 Saturday night, an hour later than scheduled due to severe weather threats. The crowd had waited patiently, and was really ready to get down to the band’s authentic rock sound. “Howlin’ for You,” was just the start to an awesome setlist put on by The Black Keys that night. They also played other fan favorites such as, “Gold On the Ceiling” “Lonely Boy” and “Tighten Up.”

A highlight of the concert for me was when guitarist and vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney broke away from the band and spectacle of the concert, and rocked out together for a little while in their own jam session. That was a great example of the authenticity of a live concert, and you could really see the chemistry between these two childhood friends as they jammed together.

This concert had some pretty cool lighting effects, and one was an awesome Black Keys light-up sign that lowered onto the stage as they played their last song. The Black Keys did not disappoint, and the crowd that stuck around to hear them were impressed with this American rock band’s sound and stage presence.
