If you’re a true rock and roll fan, you’ve been listening to him for years. You just didn’t know it.
Legendary saxophone player Bobby Keys has added his signature sound to some of music’s greatest hits over the past five decades. Although he’s probably best known for touring with the Rolling Stones during the early ‘70’s, Keys has played with Buddy Holly and the Crickets, Elvis, each of the four Beatles, Joe Cocker, B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, and many others. Now, a headline act in his own right, he’s on tour with The Suffering Bastards and will be at Headliners Music Hall tonight. (Tuesday, October 23rd)
He’s well-matched with the Bastards, an all-star cast of musicians with some strong rock and roll contributions of their own. They’ve played, individually, with the Black Crowes, Georgia Satellites, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Fogerty, Poco, and others. Together, they help showcase Keys strong musical history and vast catalog of hits, his personality and stage presence, and exceptional range of talent.
This has been a big year for Keys as he’s seen his popularity continue to grow among a new generation of music fans. He’s also written an autobiography that details his years on the road and in the studio with some of music’s greatest names. The book, called “Every Night is a Saturday Night: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Life of Legendary Sax Man Bobby Keys,” offers a close-up, behind the scenes look at the roller-coaster life of a rock and roll musician.
Tonight’s show at Headliners Music Hall is set for 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $20.
