Stage One: The Louisville Children’s Theatre and DramaWorks, the Stage One theatre education program, are pleased to present an adaptation of George Romero’s 1968 cult classic horror film Night of the Living Dead on stage at Iroquois Amphitheatre this October. In preparation for this production, Stage One is creating an exciting new education project called Zombie University, bringing alive the un-dead. The University is a unique program designed to introduce beginning and first-time actors to the stage through the combination of a basic acting class and participation in a professionally produced play. Each 101 course will include sessions on ensemble training, basic acting technique, vocal production, creative movement, costume, and make-up design. For the final, all Zombie University students will perform as the “horde of zombies” in the professional production of Night of the Living Dead. Zombie University is a great opportunity for individuals, friends, families, or any other group to participate together in something fun and educational. Enrollment is open to anyone over the age of 12 who loves or wants to discover their inner Zombie and learn what the onstage experience is like. This program is intended for a diverse range of people from all ages and backgrounds. Zombie University will take place at the Clifton Center, located at 2117 Payne Street in Louisville, KY. Tuition is set at $50.00 per person, which includes tuition for the class, a Zombie University t-shirt and a copy of The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead by Max Brooks. To enroll, call 502.498.2436, or visit www.StageOne.org and download the application form. Enrollment is limited to 60 students with slots available for under classmen (Ages 12-17) and upper classmen (Ages 18-99).
