Has spring finally sprung in Louisville? The white blossoms on the dogwood trees near my house sure tell me that it is desperately trying. Saturday's weather is forecast for nothing other than beautiful; why not head over to Blackacre Nature Preserve for some family friendly programs this weekend or a hike through the trails.

On Saturday, April 13 at 7:00pm, Blackacre is hosting a spring peepers program with Joe Cichan. Get up close and personal with some amphibians and wear appropriate shoes and clothing – you will get muddy! Pricing ranges from $5 per person to $15 per family depending on whether you are a member of Blackacre Conservancy.

On Sunday, April 14 at 1:00pm and 3:00 pm, you and your darling can attend an afternoon tea and meet the Blackacre pioneer girl, Phebe. This is a formal affair so get all dolled up and fancy for the afternoon. You will enjoy the formal tea inside the 1844 historic Presley Tyler House. Carriage rides and pioneer games outside are also planned, weather permitting. Tickets cost $20 per person and you can also purchase a $10 raffle ticket for a chance to win an American Girl Felicity doll. Visit the website or call 502-266-9802 to RSVP. The afternoon teas will also take place on April 21 and 28.

Be sure to mark your calendar for Thursday, April 25 at 6:00pm for a lecture series presented by Bob Hill; the Parklands of Floyds Fork project will be discussed.                                                                                                                                                                               Photo by Erin Nevitt
