There are few places in Louisville as fascinatingly beautiful as Cave Hill Cemetery. If you’ve ever walked or driven the rolling slopes of the nearly three hundred acres of Victorian monuments and graves, you surely know how powerful a place it is. Family tombs and white stone pillars reach high into the sky, each works of art to long gone individuals.
I recently took my first trip to Cave Hill, and I hardly saw any of it in the time I was there. It’s a multi-day trip to say the least, and it’s easy to get lost in the winding roads that twist and curl their way through the place. Thankfully, there are a multitude of tours and lectures given throughout the year, many focusing on various elements of the cemetery. Many of the dates have already passed for the year, but there are quite a few left. Below is a list of those remaining. You can find out more by visiting the Cave Hill Heritage Foundation online, and you can RSVP by calling their office at 502.813.7761. You can also book tour reservations on the Heritage Foundation’s website.

I would highly recommend a tour - it’s an overwhelming place, and having a guide would make the experience much more enjoyable. That is, unless you would prefer a simple peaceful and reflective walk, which the cemetery would be perfect for.
