    What To Do

For many adults, the Holiday season can be a time of hair-raising stress.  There are relatives to be wrangled, pies to be baked, trees to be trimmed and endless rounds of wondering if Santa will be able to afford all the right presents.  Let’s not even talk about the shopping situation at The Mall.  Being a grown-up during this merriest of times isn’t always filled with the rosy cheer conjured in the imagination.  Step away from all the madness – even if just for one evening – and spend a moment enjoying the Holiday in the right spirit.  Gather the kids and head off to the St. Matthews branch of the Library for a special (and did I mention free?) evening with A Nutcracker Storytime.

It’s a classic Christmas story that has been depicted and re-created for the imagination in all mediums of enjoyment.  As is tradition in our fair city, the Louisville Ballet continues the tale of whimsy and Holiday fantasy on the stage in a colorful feast for the eyes.  The same joy and wonderment now comes to your local library!  Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 6th, the Louisville Library will host A Nutcracker Family Storytime at the St. Matthew’s branch at 6:30pm.  A dancer from the Louisville ballet will read the timeless story with Nutcracker inspired activities to follow.  Adding extra magic, one lucky family will receive 4 complimentary tickets to an upcoming performance of the Louisville Ballet’s Nutcracker production.

A dash of Holiday escapism at the Library is an easy way to engage and charm your children without sacrificing any of their precious curiosity in front of the TV.  Treat your family to this special, and yes, free, Holiday delight and enjoy the pleasure of relaxing – just a little – this Christmas season.

    About Erin Day

I'm a Louisville native who transplanted home from Las Vegas recently. Don't ask. In my spare time I read a lot of books and drink gin. My soulmate is my 1994 turquoise Ford Ranger - they never made a finer truck. I still totally believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I just want to write for you.
