"As I Live and Breathe" release date December 6

Leigh Ann Yost brings in cases through the front door of Better Days Records on Bardstown Road when she is greeted by owner Ben Jones.  She quickly gets her gear set, and begins to tune her guitar while chatting with her long time friend, Pam, who came to support her.  I introduce myself to Leigh Ann and we chat for a few moments about her upcoming release, "As I Live and Breathe" out December 6.

Leigh Ann is very candid about what influences her music.  She says, "Life influences me.", as we continued our chat.  I asked her to talk about how and when she writes and she replied, “I write when I’m sad.  When I’m happy, I want to go do things, and when I’m sad, writing helps me. I can be sitting at a red light and something comes to me.”  She continues to talk about her life and how events changed her, “My grandmother died, literally in my arms. It is a very compelling thing in life to give birth and also witness death”.  Leigh Ann titled her latest release “As I Live and Breathe” because her late grandmother said that phrase when Leigh Ann was a child.

The first track is a happy tune, with a catchy beat and clear vocals.  Leigh Ann comments, “it is probably the happiest song on the CD”.  Leigh Ann gears up to play a tune for the children of her friend, Pam and out comes “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”.  Leigh Ann, playing an in store show to support her release is a very real and genuine person, as are her lyrics.  The songs present a clear truth about life.  She goes on to say, “I have tons of verses, unfinished songs just waiting for something to bring it together”.  I firmly believe she will bring it together and we will see good things from her in the near future.

The official release date is December 6, 2011 and Leigh Ann will perform at Uncle Slayton’s Friday night, December 9 at the CD release party.  Special guests Justin Lewis and Billy Goat Strut Revue will join the party.  Doors open at 8, show begins at 8:30p.  Tickets are $7 at the door.  This show is all ages before 10:30p, then it is 18 and over.   Uncle Slayton’s is a great venue for Leigh Ann to play and it will be a thrill to see her on stage.
