Lessons of respect, patience, and humility are taught through an entertaining blend of dancing, drumming, and costumes in the U of L production of How Orisanmi Chose His Head, which opens on Wednesday.

How Orisanmi Chose His Head will be performed on April 13, 14, 15, and 17 at 8 p.m. each night.  Due to Thunder Over Louisville, the show on April 16 will go on at 11 a.m.  Finally, a matinee show will occur on April 17 at 3 p.m.  All shows will take place in the Thrust Theatre in U of L's Studio Arts Building. The facility is located at 2314 S. Floyd Street in the same intersection as McDonalds.

Tickets for the show are $12 for regular admission, $8 for students, and $8 for senior citizens.  All tickets can be purchased at the door or at the U of L box office during regular business hours.

Patience, humility, respect, and courtesy to others are the overall themes of How Orisanmi Chose His Head, which is based on Nigerian folklore.  Nefertiti Burton created and directed the stage adaptation, which will use plenty of dancing, drumming, colorful costumes, and ever-whimsical sets to tell the tale.

The production is presented through University of Louisville's African-American Theatre Program.  More information on the group, the show, or even a JCPS study guide can be found at the U of L theatre arts website.
