On Friday June 20th, the phenomenal Chris Robinson Brotherhood descends upon The Mercury Ballroom on 4th Street, bringing their atmospheric blues rock to the River City.
The band is on tour, supporting their new album, Phosphorescent Harvest, recently released on Silver Arrow Records. No strangers to the road, Chris and his bunch previously completed a 118-date tour between 2012 and 2013, so concert-goers are sure in for a great night with the experienced rockers.
The Californian band, formed by Black Crowes' frontman Robinson, demonstrate first-rate songwriting and perform with space, texture and good humor. They have built on their previous albums Big Moon Ritual (June 2012) and The Magic Door (September 2012), and are set to bring all their power to Louisville in June. Robinson (lead vocals, guitar) is gamely assisted by Neal Casal (guitar, vocals), Adam Macdougall (keys, vocals), George Sluppick (drums), and Mark Dutton (bass, vocals), with the entire band contributing to their electric live shows.
The sound is dynamic and interesting, taking in touching points of classic blues rock, with plenty of psychedelic overtones. They present a tight, highly unique finished product which has won them a legion of fans across the region, the country and the world. If you are a fan, we know you'll be rushing to the gig, if not, why not try something a little different?
The Mercury Ballroom is the perfect venue for the band, located downtown in the theatre district. The venue, which officially opens May 9th, is set to host a large variety of other top names including Christina Perri and Aaron Lewis. The Ballroom is set to become one of the go-to places for the region.
Tickets for the show are on sale now, so make sure you snap them up while you can. Advance tickets are $22, and show time is 8.30pm.
