I ask you what can get somebody in the mood for fourth of July in the best possible traditional sense in the state of Kentucky?

Eating twelve consecutive apple pies in one sitting?  After all nothing is more American than Apple Pie! No, and I would wager that that could cause some health issues, in addition aren’t apple pies actually Dutch or something like that in origin?  I suppose I could do some research here but I’ve chosen this question and answer style so I don’t have to.

Celebrate the recent legalization of purchasing fireworks in Kentucky by buying thousands of dollars worth of Roman Candles from “Big Ed’s House O’ Fire?”  I’m gonna say not to that for one thing: get a load of Ed, but I realize I can not dissuade some of my buddies with no eyebrows on this issue so I feel I must let this one slide.

No, in my humble opinion nothing says Fourth of July better than barbecue and a ball-game, as the Bats are set to square off against the Columbus Clippers tonight at 7:05.

Plus following the game is the Zambelli Fireworks Show, so you don’t have to have any run ins with Big Ed after all!

Tonight’s game starts a week long stand for the Bats where they’ll continue their series with the Clippers until Wednesday, then; on Thursday they’ll meet up with the Indianapolis Indians for a two day home stand.

Monday’s game is so important for the Bats ball club though because they trail only the Clippers in the International West division, so the game should be a close one.  Meanwhile they currently lead the Indians by a relatively small margin in the standings, meanwhile the Triple-A All Star game players have been announced and the Bats will have an impressive four athletes represented, among these: outfielder Jeremy Hermida, catcher Devin Mesoraco, shortstop Zach Cozart and outfielder Yonder Alonso.

Those All-Stars will compete in Salt Lake City July 13th at 9 p.m., and the MLB Network will offer nationwide TV coverage of the game.

About Dave Rose

Recently, I completed a Masters degree in Education and have been writing for Louisville.com for over a year now, prior to that I published a humor book for young adults titled Wearing Socks with Sandals, a book about getting through high school, college, and all of the requisite problems that present themselves during that time. Currently, I spend much of my time in classroom settings as well as writing in various areas. Of course, I’m a big sports fan and love music and film, and love finding new stuff around Louisville.
