African American suffering and desires will be on display in the University of Louisville production of The Colored Museum, which opens tomorrow.

All performances of The Colored Museum will take place at The Playhouse, located on the U of L campus at 1911 South 3rd Street. (It's the white church-like building.) Performances will occur on Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 1, 2, and 3 at 8 p.m. each night. A matinee show will happen on Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.

Tickets for each show are $12 for general admission, $8 for students, and $8 for senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased by calling the box office at 502-852-6814 or visiting the box office in the Studio Arts building. Tickets will also be available at the door prior to performances. More information on The Colored Museum can be found at this website.

The 11 scenes in George C. Wolfe's satire The Colored Museum are related in theme and presented as museum exhibits. Audience members are sent through the "museum" to view scenes related to African American wants, suffering, and honors.

Dr. Lundeana Thomas directed The Colored Museum, which is a production of the African American Theatre Project. Cast members include Jacqueline Thompson, Erica Bledsaw, Karen Wilson, Clyde Tyrone Harper, Gary Brice, Billy Flood, Triza Cox, and Haley Brents.

U of L's next production will be How I Learned to Drive. The Paula Vogel-created work will take place in the Thrust Theatre between Oct. 27-31.
