If there was anything good about the 70‘s,80’s and 90’s, it was the birth of the mass availability of video games (Underoos, Farrah Fawcett hair and Schoolhouse Rock also deserve mention). I, myself, spent many hours in the quest to defeat Ms. Pac man, Donkey Kong and Pitfall, to name a few. I missed out on most of the video game systems and games the first time around because my dad was cheap (sorry Dad) and I was, and still am, a book worm. Fortunately, I married into a family not afraid to tell the tales of their nerd-dome of yore; boys who spent an inordinate amount of their youth collecting, and programing and playing video games. ‘Twas in the brain of the  youngest man-child that this venue was born. Joe Stith, a self-proclaimed nerd, is the creator of Louisville's first ever Arcade Expo, bringing together full-sized, original video game machines with the play-at-home consoles many of us clamored for back in the day. His goal is to provide a place where nerds everywhere feel free to shine in their nerd-dome. Comic Con has comics, Arcade Expo has video games. And not just video games, but video games that proved the metal of man and provided strength and character. There was no reset back then. Winners won and losers lost. Come and see where you fall in line, if you dare.

Starting tomorrow at 1pm and ending this Sunday, you can relive the gaming of days gone by. The Arcade Expo will be held at the Holiday in on Hurstbourne Pkwy. You’ll be able to play hundreds of games on original consoles like Atari, Sega and Apple as well as enter tournaments to win prizes and trophies. There will also be tons of original pinball machines and everything will be set on free play. If you pre-register, tickets begin at $10 for the day and $25 for the weekend. At the door, tickets will be $12/day or $30/weekend. For tickets click here; tournament info and prizes here.
