If dining out has put a pinch on the pocketbook, the Louisville Downtown Management Corp's Fleur Delicious event might entice you out of the house and into some of downtown Louisville's most happening places to have a bite.  It's a once-a-yearopportunity to enjoy exceptional dishes prepared by Downtown Louisville's hottest eateries. You can easily impress someone special by making a whole night of it downtown while taking it easier on the 'ol wallet.  Treat your date (or out-of-town guests) to a three-course dinner at one of the participating restaurants and then take in one of the many shows at Actors Theatre or The Kentucky Center.

With Fleur de Licious, there are  no passes to buy, coupons to carry or cards to punch; simply att/files/storyimages/the participating restaurant of your choice and select from a special Fleur De Licious 3-course prix-fix menu for either $25.00 or $35.00 per person. (beverages, tax and gratuity are not included.)

The event runs from October 15-20 and occurs yearly in an effort to attract residents and visitors to Louisville's burgeoning downtown area.

The crowning of the first-ever Fleur Delicious signature drink was Friday, October 12 at Slugger Field.  The winning concoction, a very autumnal Woodland Cider was whipped up by Jennifer Pittman from Proof on Main.  Other contenders were original creations by 'tenders from Primo (Solveig Slavin's Ninavetta) and The English Grill at the Brown Hotel (a Maker's Mark based Mark your Energy by Rebecca Dyer).  Interested in mixing them up yourself?  Well then...recipes below!

Woodland Cider-  Jenni Pitman from Proof on Main
? oz ginger syrup*
1 ? oz  Yazi Ginger Vodka
2 oz Apple Cider 

Pour ginger syrup, vodka and apple cider over ice in metal shaker. Shake vigorously. Stain into chilled martini glass
*Ginger syrup
3 cups water
2 cups sugar
? cup cinnamon
4 TBS crushed cloves
? cup shaved ginger root

In a small sauce pan bring water to a boil.  Remove water from heat and sugar, stirring until sugar is dissolved.  Stir in cinnamon, ginger and cloves.  Cover and allow to steam for 1 hour. Strain in order to remove ginger and cloves

Nivanetta – Solveig Slavin from Primo
2 oz of Green apple puree
2 oz of Absolut Vodka

Combine ingredients in shaker with ice. Shake until well mixed and very cold. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with slices of Granny Smith apples.  Serve with salted almonds to bring out flavor. 

Mark your Energy – Rebecca Dyer from the Brown Hotel
1 ? oz of Maker’s Mark
4 oz Monster M-80 Energy Drink
1 oz. Chambord

Mix Maker’s Mark, and M-80 Energy Drink in a shaker with ice.  Pour into a tall glass.  Pour Chambord over the top and enjoy.
