Supporting charitable organizations doesn’t require bending over backwards or even going outside of your comfort zone. For individuals, that can mean donating clothing when they realize they have more than enough. For a bread company, that might mean donating the day’s leftovers to a food shelter.
For Cox Media Group Louisville, that means selecting worthy organizations and giving each $30,000 worth of advertising and promotion as part of their Friends and Neighbors program, which launched in January.
Indian Summer Camp, Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies and St. George’s Community Center were selected as the April, May and June recipients, respectively. The local non-profits were selected from a pool of organizations nominated by the community through the Friends and Neighbors website.
The in-kind support, which began this month, will continue through June. It includes radio commercials, online presence and employee volunteering. Cox Media Group operates Country Legends 103.9 (WKRA), The New Lite 106.9 (WVEZ), The New 107.7 The Eagle (WSFR) and New Country Q 103.1 (WQNU).
Tomorrow, I’ll take a closer look at April’s recipient. Until then, you can visit the charity’s websites for more information.
Indian Summer Camp: Offers recreational activities for children wit cancer and their families.
Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies: Offers physical, occupational and speech therapies to children with special needs.
St. George’s Community Center: Provides after-school programs in Louisville’s West End neighborhoods.
Friends and Neighbors is still accepting nominations of worthy organizations for consideration. The next round of winners will be announced before July 1.
