Current Ms. Kentucky United States, Ashley Miller, has officially thrown her hat in the ring for State Representative in the 2014 election. She believes that her years in the pageantry circuit have more than prepared her for this adventure and after spending some time over coffee with her, I couldn't agree more.
Louisville native Ashley has big dreams and the motivation to make them a reality. After a successful foray in the pageantry circuit, with proud moments like winning Miss U of L in 2008 and spending a month in China for Top Model United States in 2005, she is ready to take the political arena by storm. Using her position of influence to positively impact her community she is perfectly poised to do the same in the race for office in 2014. The pageant world taught her many things about life including how to properly present herself in the best colors, fits, and fabrics to accentuate her best qualities, as well as the art of public speaking. Knowing how to put your best foot forward and speak your mind clearly and effectively are invaluable assets no matter where you may chose to do battle. Her personal sense of style has helped her embrace the woman that she’s become.
Ashley is currently completing her PhD at U of L in Nursing with a focus on healthcare policy. Where as her pageant career helped define her style and public speaking skills her current career as a Nurse Practitioner brought her running platform to life. She will be focusing on people over partisanship by serving others over herself and not pushing forward her own agenda. Equity in education and a push for healthier Kentucky will be two of her running points. With firm beliefs that your zip code should not dictate your education or opportunities; as well as a equal access to health care throughout the commonwealth, Ashley has created an incredible platform to run on. She is ready and willing to usher in a bright, new era for Kentuckians. Instead of leaving Kentucky after completing her education she wants to stay in Kentucky to effect change and help take us to the next level.
