Barry Bernson, a local man who once worked for the University of Louisville and WHAS11 News, had a hit of 126 feet, which won him title at the 40th annual Dainty Contest held in front of Hauck's store on Monday, July 26.

 What is the Dainty Contest?

Also...

In addition to WHAS, Barry Bernson has been a morning anchor on WDRB Fox 41 for several years. You can see a picture of him in his work clothes in today's news roundup at http://louisville.com/content/louisville-news-hell-or-high-water-edition.... He was also on AM radio in Chicago when I was a kid.

Correction

Actually, Eve, I worked for WMAQ-TV (NBC) in Chicago from 1976-85. Never was on the radio there. BTW, I covered the very first Dainty contest back in '71 as a reporter for WAVE-3!

I stand corrected!

My apologies, sir! Your name still rang a bell to me and so that was it. Congratulations on coming full circle with the contest.
