Death and the Maiden

Is the doctor really as humane as he seems? Find out in Death and the Maiden, which Hardin County Playhouse will present starting tomorrow.

Death and the Maiden will take place on Apr. 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. each night. Matinees will go on Apr. 6 and 13 at 3 p.m. each day. All performances are to happen at the Plum Alley Theater, located in the State Theater complex at 209 West Dixie Ave. in Elizabethtown, KY.

Tickets for most shows are $18 for general admission, $15 for seniors 55 and over, $15 for military and military dependents, and $15 for students. The Apr. 10 show is pay-what-you-can show with a minimum of $10 per person. All tickets can be purchased at the door, by calling 270-351-0577, or going to the Hardin County Playhouse website.

In a country still reeling from the old regime, the new democracy has a commission leader who is sent to investigate the old regime's crimes. The investigator, Gerardo Escobar, winds up being picked up by a kind doctor, Roberto Miranda, after Escobar's car breaks down.

Could this kindness be a ruse as Paulina, Escobar's wife, seems to think? Is this the person that tortured her while in a military detention center? With gun in hand, she'll try to find out via her own interrogation of Miranda. Who will Escobar believe?

Following Death and the Maiden, Hardin County Playhouse will present Fiddler on the Roof. That production will have auditions on Apr. 7 and 8, and shows will take place in June.
