Death Tax opens at Actors Theatre [Humana Festival]

 

The 36th Humana Festival is in its final weeks, but you still have several chances to catch history in progress. 
 
Death Tax, now in previews and opening Thursday evening, is the second to last play to open in this year’s Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre.
 
Maxine, an ailing and rich woman, is convinced that a nurse is attempting to kill her…and soon, before the death tax is reinstated and Maxine’s heirs end up forfeiting a bundle of dough.
 
This thriller explores, “money, power, and the value of a human life. ”
 
Playwright Lucas Hnath, a resident playwright at New Dramatists and lecturer at New York University, has had his work produced at Actors before. In 2010, the company included his play, “The Courtship of Anna Nicole Smith” in its 10-Minute Play Festival.
 
Death Tax opens Thursday, March 20 and runs through April 1. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased online or by calling 502-584-1205.
 
The Humana Festival concludes April 1.
