Derby City Film Festival brings filmmakers and acclaim to Louisville for a third year [Movies]


The 3rd Annual Derby City Film Festival rocked the Clifton Center this past weekend and helped to expose the work of several local and regional actors, directors and filmmakers amongst national competition.
Dozens of films in multiple categories were shown and judged throughout the three day event.

Louisville native Greg King and New Albany, Indiana filmmaker Ray Cart took honors, as well as Cincinnati’s Michael Maney, who wowed with a 24-minute film about a meth addict that cost a mere $3000 to create.

Best Actor: Richard Tyson - "Red Princess Blues"

Best Actress: Stephanie Brait - "Meth"

Best Short Film: "Meth"

Best Documentary: "Our House" by Greg King & David Teague

Best Feature Film: "Hitting the Nuts"
Starring: Joe Boyd, Mike Betette & Megan Soule

Audience Choice: "Queens of the Dead"
Starring: Joshua Loren, Justin Heim & Benjamin Wood
Written & Directed by Ray Cart

The Derby City Film Festival plans to announce a date for 2012 later this spring. This festival marks the first event since the DCFF group announced an ongoing partnership with Papa John’s Pizza that allows for a 20% donation to the Festival when a pizza is ordered on Tuesdays (November 9, 2010-July 31, 2011.)
