Event Description

With nearly 70 events, production of even a portion of the Kentucky Derby Festival would be impossible without volunteer support.  That's why volunteers like Thoroughbreds are so important.  Since 1974, they have been the first to answer the call to assist in the production of Festival events.

Thorobreds are more than “work horses”! The 500 Thorobred members work tirelessly behind the scenes to put event plans into action. They also contribute financially, actually paying membership dues to work! That’s dedication.

In return for their support, Thorobreds receive benefits linked to their level of membership, including Official Derby Festival Merchandise, news on Festival happenings and much more!

If you’re interested in becoming a Thorobred, join us at one of the Derby Festival Thorobred Socials.  These gatherings are an opportunity to mix and mingle with current and prospective Thorobred members, as well as a chance to meet members of the Derby Festival Staff.  It's a great way to learn more about this terrific group of volunteers and the people who make the Derby Festival happen, all in a fun and casual setting!
