Tasting benefit will help local chef
More than two dozen local restaurants will stage a benefit to help Chef Anoosh Shariat and his family, whose home was recently destroyed by fire. “A Night For a Friend,” which will be held at Louisville Slugger Field on Friday, March 4, will include live music, food, wine and spirits, along with a silent auction. Restaurants like Equus, Lilly’s, The English Grill, The Oakroom and Park Place on Main are among eateries that will be represented. Music will be provided by Will Cary, Steve Crews and Brock Johnson, while Brown Forman, Commonwealth Wine and Spirits and others will present wine and liquor tastings. Shariat has earned wide recognition locally and nationally, having been named “best chef” by Louisville Magazine and having been featured in Food Arts, USA Today, Gourmet Magazine, Food and Wine, Eating Well, The New York Daily News and Southern Living. Beef class at Sullivan
Sullivan University and the American Institute of Wine & Food will offer a class titled “BEEF Up Your Cooking Skills” Sunday, March 13. Instructed by Chef David Dodd and Chef Katie Payne, both of Sullivan, the class will focus on a variety of beef cuts and will teach cooking techniques that can be used in the home. The class will be followed by a sampling of beef dishes and accompaniments, along with a sampling and wine pairing from various wine regions around the world. The class is $55 for AIWF members and $65 for non-members. To reserve a spot, call 657-6363. —KG
