Looking for a fun way to get your dog involved in a family-friendly activity? Swanson Reed Galleries has just the event for your entire family, with Fido included!
Swanson Reed, along with our neighboring retailers, is sponsoring "Dog Days of Summer" Dog Parade and Costume Contest Saturday August 21, 2010 from 10am-1pm. For a $5 entry fee, enjoy an afternoon of parading, costuming and dog booths for your four-legged animal. Judging of the event will be done by Laura Shine of WFPK Radio, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting “No Kill Louisville”.
No Kill Louisville is nonprofit organization founded on raising the awareness of the "no kill" movement (www.nokill-louisville.com). No Kill Louisville helps shelter dogs with veterinary care, shelter and other needs. There will also be a pet photographer on hand taking photos for donations, snacks for all the dogs, and treats for all who participate.
This event has gone from a simple 5 store dog-friendly event to a 14-and-counting afternoon extravaganza including help from Swanson Reed, UPS Store, Clay and Cotton, Edenside, Discoveries, Luna, Ulta Pop… just to name a few. Each participating store will have a booth out front on the sidewalk as the route will begin at Swanson Reed, and depending on the heat index the route will continue onto the UPS Store or Clay and Cotton.
Participating booths include Tails Mag: Louisville, No Kill Louisville, Almost Home Boarding and Training/All Pets Veterinary Center, TruPanion Pet Insurance, Keep Louisville Weird, Red Collar Photography, Black Dog Candles, with more to be added.
It’s the perfect event to spend with man’s best friend!
