Jeffersontown's Desmond Dorsey continues to improve his game. The 6-foot-3, junior-to-be has had an outstanding spring and he hopes to continue his success in the summer. I caught up with Dorsey recently an an AAU event at the University of Louisville.
Dorsey has been playing for The Ville 16u team this spring.
"The spring has gone good," Dorsey said. "We've been winning games. We've been working hard as a team. We also practice hard, so it has gone really good."
Dorsey's all-round game has improved since the high school season ended. He has been working on his game all spring, especially his his strength and defense.
"I've been working on my strength and my defense," Dorsey said. "Summer basketball is tough, so i have to be prepared. I'm going to be playing against some good players."
Dorsey played this past season behind two outstanding guards, Thomas Jackson and Richard Kennedy. With both players now gone to graduaton, Dorsey will be the leader in the back court.
"My expectations for next season are high," Dorsey said. "We lose those guys but we have some talented players coming back. Tony Kimbro is probably going to be with us ad he will provide a lot of leadership."
Dorsey's play has attracted the attention of several colleges. He doesn't hold any offers right now but he hopes that will change with a strong performance this summer.'
"Oklahoma State, Georgetown, Notre Dame and Oklahoma have been sending me letters," Dorsey said. "No offers right now."
Jeffersontown should be one of the top teams in the state next season.
