The Earth Charter: Its Promise and Challenge with Mary Evelyn Tucker

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church

330 North Hubbards Lane

Free and open to the public. Reservations required.

The Earth Charter was drafted over a decade of intense consultation with people and organizations around the planet. It emerged from the Rio Earth Summit in 1992 when world leaders realized that an ethical and spiritual statement of principles was needed to guide sustainable development efforts. The Charter has been endorsed by thousands of groups and has inspired creative action from youth to religious communities around the world. The challenge is how to further enhance the promise of the Charter as a statement of our profound interdependence with the broader Earth community. This workshop will explore the ideas of the Charter, its integrating vision for eco-justice engagement, and ways the Louisville community can find benefit by participating in this international initiative. Seating is limited

For reservations contact The Center for Interfaith Relations (502) 583-3100.
